Take a Delicious Tour to Chapel Road.
-Abhishek Rawat.
When you talk about food and especially the street food in a city like Mumbai, apart from chawpatty stalls, pani puri vendors and gola centers comes the variety of food you get in Bandra. All the street food addicts must visit bandra and especially Chapel Road, if you are a typical catholic food lover. Based near the famous hill road, Chapel Road is a typical Catholic area where you can still find houses similar to goan architecture. Apart from its architecture and the graffiti all around Chapel Road, the area is also famous for its small food outlets and bakeries which offer a typical flavour of “PAV FOOD!”.
Just at the beginning you can find the famous Tibbs Franky Centre which has a variety of vegetarian and non-vegetarian rolls. The outlet also has a bakery just next to it which serves a good variety of cheap and tasty snacks. If you ever visit tibbs, the mutton roll and chicken schezwan cheese roll would be the best choice you can make. The bakery offers many items like Chicken Frank roll, Chicken Sandwich and Veg. Frank Rolls. An outlet called, Ribbions and Baloons also serve a variety of food items which are light on the pocket and extremely delicious.
As you walk further ahead you can find a small centre of the fresh coconuts, selling the famous “Nariyal Paani”, a perfect remedy to calm yourself during summers. Ahead of this comes the famous Shawrma Centre, a very innovative and especially famous among the young bloods. By just walking a few steps ahead comes a combination of two famous joints serving delicious varities of non-vegetarian food items, Jeff Caters and Safe Caterers. They offer kabas and tandoori chicken. Right next to it is a small food centre offering homemade snacks with chicken and beef being the main ingredient.
Chapel road has more to offer the street food lovers. On walking a few steps further towards the bazaar road you will find the whole lane full of numerous bakeries with delicious variety of non-vegetarian and vegetarian food items. These items use bread or “pav” famously known as their main ingredient. You will also find many juice centres and small centres put up by people selling beef sausages made at home.
The most famous snacks centre in the entire Chapel Road, Kalpana Snacks Mart which has a variety of food items to offer the customers. The most famous and personally recommended by me is, Beef Burger. You can also get a variety of items of your choice especially if you love non-vegetarian food. It has Chicken Pan Rolls, Mutton Pattice and Schezwan Chicke Lollipops as other items that might interest you. The most unique food item would be ‘Fugias’, small pav balls that are sweet in taste.
Thus the whole street and area has a lot to offer to all the street lovers. It gives you a really different flavour and surely will trigger your taste buds leaving a reason behind to visit Chapel Road again and again.
