“So won’t the real slim shady please stand up? Please stand up” The bespectacled young man went on in his rather nasal high pitched voice. It was Saturday night, and the tiny suburban lounge in Mumbai was filled with young people waiting in anticipation for their track to be played....

 

India is home to one of the popular music industries in the world. India churns out different songs and music every single day. Typical Bollywood and classical music are quite a rage back, but every now and then there are some western influences heard in Filmi songs. Back in the 1940-1950s, classical music, like Hindustani, were quite popular in Film songs. Great singers like Lata Mangeshkar, Mohammed Rafi, and Asha Bhonsle churned out memorable songs....

When there is nothing around you, when there is no one to smile, cry or talk, when you cant express or feel all alone, there is only one thing which soothes your mind, MUSIC. Music has always been like a companion which will never leave you, like an elder showing you the right path and sometimes it creates moments which stay with you forever....

It was an amazing place to be. The Sula vineyards at Nashik, was brought back to life as it celebrated its 6th annual festival- Sula Fest 2014. This music festival, held by India’s most accessible and popular winery was held on the 1st and 2nd of February. Nashik, a quiet district of Maharashtra which is a 2 hour drive from Mumbai city, suddenly became the buzz of the entire town as Jaguars, Ferraris and other luxury cars lined up the dusty approach to the entrance of the venue of the festival...
