BOMBAY-ADDA

A new Season a new Captain, but more expectations!

It’s almost April and the flavour of Pepsi IPL is back, the glamour, the stars and most important cricket is going to be back on small screen that will glue people to the TV sets. Speaking of gluing people to the TV set the recent auction did that pretty good.Since we are mumbaikars, we are only concerned about Mumbai Indians the most expensive franchise. Last season was quite a season for Mumbai Indians,Ponting bought as captain then Rohit taking over and exceeding our expectations. One word that I hate to use but is used very much in sports that is “incredible”, that’s right, it was an incredible season for Mumbnai winning the IPL and then going on to win the champions trophy. That was also the little master’s last match in the blue of Mumbai Indians! There was quite a buzz before the auction. Everybody was interested to see whom will they bring in to replace GOD (Sachin) with. They got Mr.Cricket , Mike Hussey in the auction that probably was the best buy for Mumbai. They let most of their players leave, like Mitch Johnson, Dinesh karthik, Dawyne Smith. Surprisingly, they let the local Mumbai players leave
like, Dhawal Kulkarni, who is an experienced, season campaigner for both State and franchise. Where I think Mumbai missed out was that they retained Malinga and Pollard. I guess with that they had a lot less money going into the auction and it’s not a secret anymore that Malinga is aging and is not at the peak of his powers anymore and Mitch Johnson could have been a better option as he can swing the handle, aswell he has a test century against the mighty South Africans but that was not the only mistake for me, I think keeping Pollard, though many would disagree, but I think he performs a bit erratically and is not consistent considering others from the Caribbean. People like Gayle, Sunile Narayan are potentially match winners for their respective franchises and Pollard has just not reached the promise he earlier showed, so keeping Pollard is a gamble. Other interesting buys that Mumbai got was the all rounder from New Zealand, Corey Anderson, for a whooping 6 crores.New season, new Mumbai Indians. No matter what the pundits say, I have only one thing to say,” Mumbai Indians duniyaa hila denge hum !”. We have the best ground, the best and most passionate crowd and we are going to take it to the wire. Win, lose or draw Mumbai Indians till the end!
